Postcards From Kauai

Monday, June 21st, 2010 by Nate

I shot these four short scenic films in March of 2010 on the island of Kauai in Hawaii. Because it was a family trip I didn’t have a whole lot of time to shoot while on Kauai, but I did manage to come home with a nice collection of scenic shots from around the island.

Aloha! and enjoy.

Look for more footage showing up in future Kunu videos.

Rhett & Link’s T-Shirt War

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010 by Nate

Rhett & Link have been on the internet video scene for quite some time now. I remember when they were first starting to get popular. I remember it pretty clearly, actually, because I offered to create a DVD for them and they accepted my offer. I spoke to them on the phone a few times, developed a concept and put together a nice little DVD featuring many (if not all) of their videos up to that point. You can seen some screenshots of it here.

Since then they have hosted a TV show, been sponsored by some major corporations to create silly videos, released an award-winning documentary, traveled around the US making intentionally bad commercials, and just generally kept busy being awesome.

Their latest creation is a collaborative effort and a mighty fine one at that. It’s called T-Shirt War and… well just watch it for yourself:

The Betty Bowl

Monday, February 8th, 2010 by Blair

If you were like the millions of North Americans watching the Super Bowl last night, then you weren’t actually watching the Super Bowl. No, you were watching for the commercials. What’s wrong with that? Nothing.

Every year advertisers spend millions for the ability to show off their products and services to the Super Bowl’s massive audience. This means they have to come up with a way to appeal to every single person that’s watching. Easier said than done.

There does seem to be 1 special ingredient to make your message stick; laughter. If you can make your audience laugh, odds are you’ll get their attention. That’s why, drum roll please, last night’s best commercial goes to Snickers.

With a dash of Betty White, and a pinch of aggression, this recipe had many rolling off of their chairs:

The fabled iPad has arrived. This video is a little bit cheesy, but it displays the product in a great way:

This movie requires Adobe Flash for playback.

Expect in your hands April 2010.

The REAL Reason We Love American Idol

Thursday, January 14th, 2010 by Blair

The American Idol franchise has made quite a few people famous. The odd thing, is that it’s not always the winners who gain notoriety. Remember William Hung?

Well it seems we’ve found another “winner” for this season. Thank you, Atlanta (area), Georgia resident -- Larry Platt:

Ladies and gentlemen. This is “Panic Attack” by Fede Alvarez.

“Panic Attack” is short film that was made by Fede Alvarez, a filmmaker from Uruguay. It has been viewed over 5MILLION times since November 2009!
One of those views was Sam Raimi. He’s the director of the Spider Man films, Evil Dead, etc. etc. As it turns out, Sam liked it. He liked it so much that Fede now has a development deal at Raimi’s Ghost House Pictures.

Read about it here.

Rumour has it that they actually got in touch with him the very day he posted the video!
