Making Stars

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010 by Nate

Not too long ago I posted a brief congrats to Noah (the guy in the Matt Good video) for his recent achievements. One of those achievements being the official voice of Molson Canadian. If you watched the olympics on CTV you almost definitely heard his voice…

Rhett & Link’s T-Shirt War

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010 by Nate

Rhett & Link have been on the internet video scene for quite some time now. I remember when they were first starting to get popular. I remember it pretty clearly, actually, because I offered to create a DVD for them and they accepted my offer. I spoke to them on the phone a few times, developed a concept and put together a nice little DVD featuring many (if not all) of their videos up to that point. You can seen some screenshots of it here.

Since then they have hosted a TV show, been sponsored by some major corporations to create silly videos, released an award-winning documentary, traveled around the US making intentionally bad commercials, and just generally kept busy being awesome.

Their latest creation is a collaborative effort and a mighty fine one at that. It’s called T-Shirt War and… well just watch it for yourself:

The Betty Bowl

Monday, February 8th, 2010 by Blair

If you were like the millions of North Americans watching the Super Bowl last night, then you weren’t actually watching the Super Bowl. No, you were watching for the commercials. What’s wrong with that? Nothing.

Every year advertisers spend millions for the ability to show off their products and services to the Super Bowl’s massive audience. This means they have to come up with a way to appeal to every single person that’s watching. Easier said than done.

There does seem to be 1 special ingredient to make your message stick; laughter. If you can make your audience laugh, odds are you’ll get their attention. That’s why, drum roll please, last night’s best commercial goes to Snickers.

With a dash of Betty White, and a pinch of aggression, this recipe had many rolling off of their chairs:

The small cost of a big idea

So we’ve finally launched our Web Video Starter Package. You know, a lot of work goes into launching something like this. A lot of late nights and long days sitting at the computer, toiling over words and designs. From the post card graphics to the terms and conditions, the web page to our own commercial, everything had to be meticulously combed through by several people to get it just right. All of this, which trying to complete a few other videos, such as the AWE Therapies spot and a couple more that should be released in the next week or two. I guess what I’m saying is that it’s been hard work, but rewarding none-the-less. Even though, as of writing this, we haven’t yet made our first sale, I feel as though it’s already successful. That might sound kind of cheesy or preemptive, but I really feel as though this is something that will take off. To my knowledge this is the single most affordable package for getting businesses online with web video. I have not heard of any other production companies that have attempted such a thing.

Web video is clearly the direction marketing it going. As Blair has mentioned in his previous post, even having the option of a video on your web site adds immeasurable value. At $198 we are confident that even startups with virtually no capital can afford to get a video online. Think about it. How much does an ad in a newspaper cost? How much would only 1000 post cards cost? And how long do they last?

Now, some people have suggested that such a low price-point might devalue our brand. I kindly disagree. I disagree because I know the quality of our work. I know how much passion and dedication we put into it. I know because I do a lot of it myself. I know the value of remarkable and try to live my life with that mindset. I know that it won’t be the price of our Starter Package that sets the value of our brand, but how we work and what we do that sets the value.

Kunu’s Web Video Starter Package. It’s finally here. The most affordable, highest quality option for any business who wants to get started in web video. I am excited to get started, so without further adieux…
